Editorial Advisory Board – Talent Canada

Talent Canada is grateful for the advice and support of senior business leaders and human resources professionals across Canada.

The Editorial Advisory Board is a group of volunteers from across the country who serve as a sounding board to help our journalists stay on top of real-world issues facing Canadian employers.

Members of the Advisory Board are appointed for two year terms. Here are the current members:

Anthony Ariganello, CPHR Canada

Anthony Ariganello is currently the President and CEO of the Chartered Professionals of Human Resources (CPHR) of BC, and the Yukon, and CPHR Canada.

Prior to this, he was the President and CEO of CGA (Certified General Accountant’s) Canada. Mr. Ariganello was a key leader in the merger of the 3 accounting bodies into CPA.

Prior to CGA Canada, Mr. Ariganello was also the President of Avon Canada, Avon being the world’s largest direct seller.

Holding the ICD director designation, Mr. Ariganello currently serves as President (Chair) of the World Federation of People Management (WFPMA) .Mr. Ariganello also serves as the Chair of the Board of Re:Sound, a Canadian music licensing company, that obtains fair compensation for artists and record labels. He is also a board director of Spinal Cord Injury B.C., and is also an audit, and governance committee member. He also served as Chair of the Audit Council for Local Government supporting the Auditor General for Local Government for the province of B.C.  In addition, Mr. Ariganello completed his term on the board of the BC Real Estate Association as a director and member of the audit committee.

While at Avon, Mr. Ariganello was chair of the Direct Sellers Association of Canada’s board, and a member of the board of the Canadian Cosmetic Toiletries and Fragrance Association; and Nonprescription Drug Manufacturers Association of Canada. Additionally, he served on Canada’s National Council of Financial Executives. He also sat on the advisory panel to the Comptroller General of Canada.

Mr. Ariganello also consults on good governance practices, particularly with not for profit boards, and on a wide array of operational issues.

Mr. Ariganello is a graduate of McGill University and holds the following designations: Fellow CPA (Canada), Fellow CGA, Fellow CCA (UK), CGMA (US), CPHR (Canada), SHRM-SCP (US) and ICD.D. He also holds the CPA certificate form the State of Delaware, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Rumeet Billan, Women of Influence+

Dr. Rumeet Billan is an award-winning, internationally recognized entrepreneur, learning architect, speaker, author and humanitarian.

Her mission is to transform workplace cultures through research, training, and experiences that enable trust, foster belonging, and build resilience. Dr. Billan is the incoming CEO and owner of Women of Influence and President and CEO of Viewpoint Leadership.

She completed her PhD at the University of Toronto and has designed and facilitated programs, courses, and training sessions across industries and sectors. She led the groundbreaking national research study on Tall Poppy Syndrome which reveals the impact of the silent systemic syndrome on women in the workplace.

In 2020, she co-led the Canadian Happiness at Work study, in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association. Dr. Billan was named Canada’s Top 10 Power Women in 2020, and has been twice named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women. Recently, she released her first award-winning and bestselling book, Who Do I Want To Become?, designed for children and adults who are struggling with the question of what they want to be when they grow up.

Kris Tierney, HRPA

Kris Tierney is the Vice-President of Human Resources and Learning at the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA), Ontario’s regulator of the Human Resources profession. In her role, she provides strategic leadership to the Association’s internal human resources practices, as well as leads professional development and learning programming for the HRPA’s more than 23,000 students and members.

Kris is a passionate business executive with specific expertise in people and culture. She believes that outstanding businesses run on outstanding workplaces where people and culture are strategic priorities. Kris spent more than 15 years’ leading HR and strategic talent programs in high growth, tech companies in automotive and financial services where she served as a trusted people and culture strategist, advisor and business partner to the C-Suite.

Known for her easy and approachable style, she thrives when helping others live their lives with purpose, belonging and value, and is a sought-after speaker and HR expert. Kris holds the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designations as awarded by the HRPA.
