In the year 2000 A.D., USB thumb drives became available for the public. Three years later, a joint survey by the FBI & CSI determined that one-third of all data theft was the result of employees inside organizations; and the estimated damage was in the billions of dollars. Today, we have cloud-based storage, BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policies… and post-COVID work-from-home flexibility. What are the statistics now?

Unless you work in the diamond industry or as a military defense contractor, your employee base is likely not very receptive to working under highly secure conditions. The age-old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” holds very true when discussing the protection of sensitive data, it’s not as pragmatic in the free-flow of information required for today’s competitive businesses.
