U.S. company offers to pay employees to get COVID-19 vaccine
By Talent Canada staff
U.S. variety chain Dollar General is offering its employees the equivalent of four hours pay to accommodate their time away from work to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
A press release issued by the company on Wednesday indicated the measure is intended as support for its frontline employees who wish to receive the vaccine.
“We do not want our employees to have to choose between receiving a vaccine or coming to work, so we are working to remove barriers,” the release states.
“We’re also working with our distribution and transportation teams to make similar accommodations for those teams.”
According to the release, the company also understands the decision to receive the COVID-19 vaccination is a personal choice, and although employees are encouraged to take it, they are not required to do so.
