The event kicks off at 1:30 p.m. ET with welcome and opening remarks by Todd Humber, senior editor of OHS Canada. Following this, the keynote session features Dr. Nancy Carnide of the Institute for Work & Health and Dr. Jeavana Sritharan of the Occupational Cancer Research Centre, who will set the stage for the day’s discussions.

At 2 p.m., a panel titled “Defining the Problem” begins, featuring Ken Brodie of Modern Niagara, Julian Toy, a Substance Abuse Professional, Vicky Waldron of the Construction Industry Rehabilitation Plan, and Gina Vahlas of the College for the Certification of Canadian Professional Ergonomists and WorkSafeBC.

This expert panel will delve into the complexities of opioids in the workplace, including identifying warning signs of overdoses and emergency response tactics.

Following a break at 2:45 p.m., the event resumes with a panel discussion at 3 p.m. focusing on “Advice for Employers.” Panelists include Lilian Riad-Allen of the LCBO, Mike Russo of WorkBright, Dr. Bill Howatt of Howatt HR, and Candace Plattor of Love With Boundaries.
